OUR HISTORY
Value
Management Strategies, Inc. specializes in applying Value Methodology (VM) to
develop or improve business/management processes, construction projects,
strategic plans, product designs, and manufacturing processes. In addition to
planning, organizing, and conducting traditional Value Studies, VMS provides
Partnering Services; Strategic Planning and Focus Panels for organizations; and VM training seminars.
Our role in Value Studies is to
provide the team leader, a Certified Value Specialist, to plan, coordinate,
conduct, manage, and document the studies. For each study we select team members
with expertise relevant to the project. These individuals may come from the
local consulting community, or they may be technical experts desired by the
customer and/or customer representatives. The right team for the study results
in a higher rate of success for the VM effort.
VMS was originally incorporated in
1990 as CCS, Inc. in response to the growing need in the construction industry
for experienced professionals trained and skilled in value techniques.
Concurrent with this need was the vision to increase the involvement of the user
and design team in value studies, and to apply the value techniques earlier in
the design process, both relatively new concepts in the construction sector at
that time. In 1995, the corporate name was changed to Value Management
Strategies, Inc. to better reflect the focus of our business. VMS acquired
the Portland, OR based VM consulting firm of Consulting Value Specialists, Inc.
(CVS, Inc.) in 1999. VMS now maintains a staff of four principal and three
associate Certified Value Specialists.
In addition to leading traditional Value Studies, we
specialize in the early application of VM techniques (Partnering for Design)
to develop program scope and concept development with the project stakeholders
(owner, user, resource agencies, design team, etc.) to ensure the customer
receives the right project for the right cost. All of our CVS's are skilled and
experienced in applying the VM techniques to a wide range of projects.
